GENDER SURGERY
A breast reduction (reduction mammaplasty) is designed to make the breasts smaller by removing skin, breast tissue, and fatty tissue. In addition, the breast is lifted, and the areola (pigmented skin around the nipple) is also made smaller.
This procedure helps alleviate the physical symptoms of macromastia (large pendulous breasts) such as shoulder grooving or notching, slouching, upper back pain, and skin irritation between and under the breasts. The emotional symptoms can be equally as compelling in seeking a breast reduction. The incision can be made using a number of techniques, but most commonly appears as an upside down T. This will be discussed with you during your Welcome Consultation. Partnering with your surgeon can result in achieving natural looking and feeling breasts that no longer restrict you or your lifestyle.
